Frog Safaris

The sub-tropical rivers and pans (large ponds) of Zululand and the high altitude lakes of the Chrissiesmeer area of Mpumalanga host a rich and varied array of colourful, and noisy, frog life. During summer (November – March) frog experts guide tours in both of these areas.

Guests are provided with a torch and waterproof boots before they head off in search of the amphibians. Each frog species has its own specific call and breeds in a specific part of the river or pan.

In Zululand the guides are careful to select rivers from which crocodiles are absent but the reptiles do not occur in Chrissiesmeer.
