Zambia is a vast friendly country, one of the least travelled but most rewarding wildlife destinations in Africa. Broad untamed rivers form the core of nearly all of Zambia’s largest and best wildlife areas, and not least of the country’s scenic bounties is the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls.
Situated on the Zambia / Zimbabwe border, the Zambezi River crashes down creating a spray that can be seen miles away and a roar that can be heard long before the waterfall is in sight.
Zambia’s National Parks, many of which are in wild, remote areas, offer prolific game viewing with huge herds of elephant and buffalo, and great prides of lion. The South Luangwa National Park also offers some of the best leopard sightings in Africa.
South Luangwa, is also famous for its elephant population and large pods of hippo and is widely recognised as the home of the walking safari. It is one of the few national parks in Africa where you can enjoy the thrill of a night-drive, searching for elusive nocturnal species.
The Kafue National Park is considered to be Africa’s best reserve for antelope, which in turn attracts the big cats – notably cheetah and lion. You can see more than a thousand black lechwe on the floodplains of Bangweulu or catch some of the biggest tiger fish in Africa within sight of a large elephant herd on the Lower Zambezi. Hartley’s will combine the very best that Zambia has to offer to create your perfect safari.
